Laser Keyboards Are The Future Of Computer Inputs

By Sean Goudeloc

Virtual laser keyboards are the future of computer inputs. They have the standard keyboard keys but in holographic laser projection that can be viewed on any flat surface. Upon touching a key, a realistic click would be heard and the corresponding letter, number or symbol would appear on the screen of the computer.

Fronting the projector are 2 projections on the flat surface. The visible one is the holographic laser projection in red. Above this projection is an indiscernible IR or infrared projection. The IR projection on top of the key pressed would bounce to the projector interpreting the key that was clicked on. IBM invented and patented this type of technology back in 1992. The projector is linked to a PC via Bluetooth or a USB connector.

Laser keyboards are the future of computer inputs because almost everybody welcomes change when it comes to technology. The keyboard has three modules and they are the projection, illumination, and the sensor modules. With a diode laser in red color, the projection module projects a keyboard also in red. This is just for the typist’s reference.

The illumination module gives out unseen IR signals in parallel beams. These beams are similar to those of a television remote control. These beams are just millimeters on top of the keyboard hologram. Upon hitting a key, the IR beams break and then reflect some of these beams to the projector.

The sensory module has a microprocessor as well as a CMOS camera that turns the signals back to keystrokes. It can be likened to radar but it just utilizes infrared at a distance of not more than a meter. It is through the USB cable or Bluetooth that the keystroke codes are transmitted to the computer by the sensory module.

There are advantages of this type of technology thus the reason why laser keyboards are the future of computer inputs. Carpal tunnel syndrome can be reduced because one just touches the keys on the flat surface instead of pressing them all the way. It is also cleaner because the present keyboards of today can be very dirty as all types of germs from the hands can be transmitted to them. An example is E. coli carried by humans.

There are also virtual laser keyboards the size of a pen which can be carried inside the pockets. One just lays this on the table and on a wall, it can project a computer screen. On the table, it can project a laser keyboard. Wherever you go, you would be able to carry a computer conveniently. In addition, this pen, called P-ISM, writes.

The world is becoming fast and people would spend a lot to buy convenience. Bulky gadgets have been replaced by smaller ones and people patronize them. The typewriters were very inconvenient thus computers replaced them. The computer became portable with the creation of laptops, notebooks, netbooks and tablets. And now, technology has given more convenience by creating holograms so that people would not feel the bulk of their computers. This would be a welcome change to many because it can minimize space required and reduce bulkiness of the computer. Truly, virtual laser keyboards are the future of computer inputs.
